Way more than you could afford. The fuel-cell stacks themselves just recently came down past the million-dollar (!) mark, and the high-pressure hydrogen tanks and other stuff aren’t cheap either.
You can already buy kits for electric conversions, and a small generator would let you run past the battery-only range (AC Propulsion did this with a 250 cc Honda engine for a battery car). You can get electricity everywhere, and it costs the equivalent of about 75¢/gallon. Just forget hydrogen, it’s the fuel of the future… and always will be.

The problem is not only with changing it over but where to get refill your car when it runs out. There is no infrastructure to support hydrogen cell cars yet.

Ah, de brandstofcel. Er zijn de echte soort – het soort dat zij gebruiken in ruimtevaartuigen – en deze werkt prima als je vindt waterstof te gebruiken in hen en als u zich kan veroorloven de honderden duizenden dollars ze kosten. Het probleem hier is dat de uitvinders niet begrijpen waar die energie vandaan komt: de energie om de waterstof binding van het water afkomstig was van de batterij, maar de batterij opnieuw moet worden opgeladen door de alternator, en het vergt extra energie op zijn beurt dat de alternator wanneer het geladen door een batterij die behoefte hebben aan het opladen. De energie nodig om uit de dynamo, natuurlijk, is afkomstig van de motor zelf, via de dynamo gordel. Je bent eigenlijk te verliezen energie, omdat een aantal van de elektrische energie van de batterij geldt ook voor het verwarmen van het water.
