FR sweatshirts are a great way to become warm and compliant. They would be considered a great Fall or Spring season sweatshirt because they are not very thick. Because they are lightweight there is a lot of freedom of movement making them very comfortable. A nice way to layer with this sweatshirt would be to layer under an FR denim jean jacket. Since they are not thick and bulky they layer nicely under a jean jacket and add the warmth you need. The Carhartt FRK296 is a great FR sweatshirt in 10 ounce fleece.
14 ounce fleece sweatshirt: 14 ounce sweatshirts are excellent for winter weather warmth and durability. They are much thicker and heavier than the 10 ounce keeping you warmer. Since the 14 ounce is considerably thicker it is very durable and lasts longer. A nice flame resistant clothing layering product for the 14 ounce sweatshirt is a flame resistant vest – it won’t add bulk to the arms giving you freedom for movement. National Safety Apparel’s C21IF_ _05 is an excellent 14 ounce fleece.
14 ounce fleece sweatshirt with lining: The 14 ounce sweatshirt with lining is one of the best FR sweatshirts in the industry. It is warmer, heavier and very durable. The lining is a waffle weave lining that is soft and comfy. Because of the thickness and strength of the garment, it holds up very well in the wash. A great feature of this sweatshirt is the choice of a zip front sweatshirt or a pullover hoodie. NSA’s C21IFWE_ _03 is great 14 ounce fleece with lining.
Nomex Polar fleece sweatshirt: This fleece is the warmest of them all and so comfortable. It is very light weight so if you need a lot of warmth without all the thickness this is the fleece for you. A good Nomex polar fleece is the C23FL by National Safety Apparel.
