Landscaping in Calgary – How to mulch your landscape in the hot season

Calgary landscape owners know the importance of water during the hot season, but they should do it right so it will not destroy the shrubs, flowerbeds and young plants. When hot season comes, remember the following advice on how to water your garden properly:

You can slowly soak flowerbeds with exclusively designed water hoses. Do not water the plants overhead for it will make the flowers spotty, making it ore damageable under the sun. You can use a wide nozzled hose when you water plants in pots and flowers in hanging baskets, but be sure to gently spray the water. Water do not evaporate that much in plastic flower containers, use it rather than those terra cotta pots. For lawns, an inch of water a week is just right. If you notice runoff, stop irrigating your lawn and wait till that water is absorbed before turning on your sprinklers again.

If you ask a Calgary landscaping company, they’ll tell you to use a different approach for trees and larger plants. When watering the tree roots, makes sure they are deeply soaked at least once a month. Allow your sprinkler to wet the tree’s entire root zone, or if using a hose, insert it into the soil and run the water, moving it around different areas of the tree for an even soak.

How do you water? Do your watering early in the day, in the morning preferably, where there’s a cool temperature and water can’t evaporate easily.   Provide some mulch covering, to protect the plants from moisture loss. Mulch cultivates the soil when it decays. A Calgary landscape design companyshould be able to furnish tips on how to apply mulch, watering methods and soil care. Ground with little sand basically needs watering more, though it absorbs liquid less. Rich soil can be dense, taking much more water and requiring less treatment. One to three inch of mulch covering would be necessary to protect the soil from hot temperature and water loss.

Ponds are also becoming increasingly popular. Moreover, buy good fish pond supplies to maintain the quality of the water in your pond. Algae growth is not good for fish and water plants. Ask your garden pond shop on the best supplies to keep the pond dwellers healthy.

Calgary landscape owners know a beautiful landscape improves with green shrubs, flowers, trees and home property.
